
Sony has made a non-binding proposal to acquire Tamron and turn the Japanese lens maker into a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sony Group, Tamron has officially confirmed. The company has established a Special Committee to review its options, and while no financial details have been disclosed, a deal of this scale could reshape the third-party lens market that so many filmmakers rely on.
